The Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations receives the 2018 Qualifications-Based Selection Award

The U.S. Department of State Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations received the 2018 Qualifications-Based Selection Award from the National Society of Professional Engineers and the American Council of Engineering Companies. The Award was presented to OBO at the NSPE Celebrate Engineering Excellence Luncheon at the 2018 PE Conference in July.

Beirut

United States Breaks Ground on the U.S. Embassy in Beirut

The United States broke ground on a new Embassy in Beirut in May. The new compound, being built on a property adjacent to the current embassy, is scheduled to be completed in 2022. The new facility will provide a secure, modern, and environmentally sustainable platform for U.S. diplomacy in Lebanon and is expected to achieve LEED Platinum certification.

United States Dedicates New Embassy in Paramaribo

The United States dedicated the new U.S. Embassy in Paramaribo in October 2016. The new Embassy is located in the Morgenstond development and is targeting LEED Silver certification.
